Summer in Australia has ended... and a new Puppy...

Greetings all.....

Summer here in Australia has ended.....

November and December looked (and felt) like this.....

Even in suburbia... it was dry and dusty. Then the New Year rolled in.... and I expected Arrakis Sand-worms at any time.....

Yes, it was hot... steady, rolling heat..... and yes, there is the miracle of modern air conditioning.....  Modelling is a discretionary time, and when things like keeping some local native animals alive, keeping the dogs hydrated....(Dogs, plural, more on that in a moment) plus changing to full time work.... well, the capacity was not there.

Dogs.... We've had our rescue girl, Sasha, for a few years now. A good friend of mine, well, his dog had a litter of 4 puppies, and we got the runt. Named Jarrah. A Kelpie cross, he's a working dog breed that we are trying to find the balance between working and suburban.

Not. Easy. At. All.

Here he is at a few months....

And with his older sister, Sasha.....

He's now taller, and a bit heavier than Sasha....  As expected.

The real challenge was the house training, and the slow campaign against chewing as he went from puppy milk teeth to adult teeth..... then a slow campaign of constantly finding what has he chewed today... and how can we divert and deflect that behaviour.

Suffice to say, we now have a new iron, a gap in the bookshelf, a clean desk policy, a closed door policy, a shows put away policy, a proactive approach to chew toys for when we're at work..... the list goes on....

Easy to work out where any spare time went.... raising a puppy of a high energy, smart and inquisitive nature.

Now he' starting to mature out of his puppy chew everything brain, and the weather has turned cooler, I can now spare some energy and time on hobby....
